In the Białowieża Forest all the woodpeckers are busy with their broods – either making nestholes, incubating or even feeding. We have successfully seen the whole set a number of times already this spring. Pygmy Owls are active in their territories and Hazel Grouse can also be seen without much effort. (more…)

Biebrza impressions
What to say.. it’s difficult not to take photos when traveling around Biebrza in May. Ruffs, Terns, Cranes, Elks, Wagtails, Whinchats, views, villages and a lot more. Take a look at some of my last pics made during our trips.

Ruffs rule
I’ve had a short Biebrza trip today with friends from Wisent Reisen. The two spots are definitely recommended and worth visiting now: Mścichy and Brzostowo. They are just full of displaying Ruffs, Wood Sandpipers, Spotted Redshanks, White-winged and Whiskered Terns. Want more? There are great Bluethroats and Citrine Wagtails at Mścichy and Little Terns at Brzostowo. Check our forum for full lists of birds to see at the Biebrza Marshes now (more…)
Spring full-blown
Spring is finally full-blown in the Biebrza. Marsh Marigolds flower en masse and should be there for the next 3 weeks. More and more waders arrive and Ruffs undeniably reign. First Terns and Warblers showed up and there will be more coming every day now. (more…)
