Although we’re now focused on getting the next Site Guide ready for you, we do some guiding in the meantime. Last days I have spent guiding for Biebrza Eco-Travel.

We’ve had a great time watching something like 9 Elks, a White-tailed Eagle, dozens of Cranes and Greylag Geese at dawn, Goosanders, Egrets and Herons. Many northern birds already arrived – we saw loads of Bullfinches, (more…)

Eagles trip report

Greater Spotted Eagle

Eager for eagles we’ve had a trip around Biebrza yesterday with Wisent Reisen from Zurich.. With Erik, his wife and lovely daughters we visited Zygmunta Augusta lake, Mscichy, Brzostowo, Burzyn, Bagno Lawki and Goniadz. Results? Seems that Lesser Spotted Eagles have already left.. but we’ve been lucky with others :) (more…)

Bison Patrol report

Last tuesday I had a chance to guide Thomas and Sylvia from Germany/Austria in the Bialowieza Forest. We didn’t expect much as for this time of the year, nevertheless we decided to try and go Bisoning. Just after the first meters we walked into the forest, clear Bison tracks could be seen on the path which was a good sign we were on the right track.

It is difficult to write what happened later.. (more…)

Swimming cows & a Goosander

Summer is an excellent time to watch the spectacle of Biebrza’s swimming cows in Brzostowo. Best to be there early morning, around 6 am or in the afternoon – from 4.30 till 6 pm. There’s usually Cranes and Greylag Geese around and Elks may come out of the forest as well.

Our last trip there, resulted in (more…)

Biebrza impressions

What to say.. it’s difficult not to take photos when traveling around Biebrza in May. Ruffs, Terns, Cranes, Elks, Wagtails, Whinchats, views, villages and a lot more. Take a look at some of my last pics made during our trips.

And if you want to check the most recent observations before you arrive just take a look at our forum, I’ve just posted a report from 5th May. (more…)

Ruffs rule

I’ve had a short Biebrza trip today with friends from Wisent Reisen. The two spots are definitely recommended and worth visiting now: Mścichy and Brzostowo. They are just full of displaying Ruffs, Wood Sandpipers, Spotted Redshanks, White-winged and Whiskered Terns. Want more? There are great Bluethroats and Citrine Wagtails at Mścichy and Little Terns at Brzostowo. Check our forum for full lists of birds to see at the Biebrza Marshes now (more…)

Spring full-blown

Spring is finally full-blown in the Biebrza. Marsh Marigolds flower en masse and should be there for the next 3 weeks. More and more waders arrive and Ruffs undeniably reign. First Terns and Warblers showed up and there will be more coming every day now. (more…)

Biebrza short report

Spring advances and Biebrza is now full of water and I mean it full :) I will write more after the weekend and for now, I hope the pics will speak for themselves.. (more…)
